Break up with your company
a musical monologue
Last July, I was in the car on an 18-hour road trip out to Colorado. Somewhere around Barstow, smack dab in the California desert, I received yet another “no news” email about my application to a senior role at Google. I’d been strung along for weeks without a meaningful update. As I stared out the window, I felt depressed. This simply wasn’t how a top exec candidate would be treated. I wasn’t going to get the job.
I had a Plan B obviously, and I left Google. I heeded the bright, neon signs that my journey was truly done. No growth! Joy diminishing! Dread high! I would handle the financial impact. It was time to go.
But first…breakup songs.
And an EVENT announcement
Next Tuesday, the 23rd, I’ll be at Fireside Books & More in Redwood City, CA. I’m selling and signing the first edition of The Adventures of Women in Tech, and I’ll have some sticker swag and promotion for the 2nd edition. Stop by if you’re local!
